Perth & Kinross Hockey Goalkeeper Workshop for Schools

Thursday 22nd October 2009
4-6pm
Bell's Sports Centre
Perth

The aim of this workshop is to promote goalkeeping and work through some drills with the players at whatever their level of ability. This is also an opportunity for players to try goalkeeping for the first time and get an idea of the basic skills involved.

They will also get some drills to take away with them and some guidance on the rules specific to goalkeeping.  There will also be a DVD of some hockey and goalkeeping practices that they can watch.

Any teachers/coaches are welcome to attend either to get involved in the coaching or to watch. This is a great opportunity to pick up some drills for your goalkeepers to make their training as fun and specialised as they deserve.

It would help us greatly if goalkeeping kit can be brought along to this session for your school pupils as we only have a limited of kit that can be borrowed.

Pitreavie Race to Clubmark Award

Pitreavie AAC are celebrating completion of scottishathletics Clubmark, becoming the fifth club in Scotland to gain accreditation. The Club have been working hard over the latter part of 2008 and early 2009 and their efforts have paid off.

Presenting the award to Pitreavie AAC, scottishathletics Education and Development Manager said, “Pitreavie fully deserve this award as they have clearly proven that they are a club with vision, ambition and a strong structure. It is clear that the cub committee have fully committed to being one of the best managed clubs in Scotland and by achieving Clubmark have demonstrated high standards of practice in all areas of their operations.”

Pitreavie Club Chair, Shelagh Young added, “Pitreavie wants the best for all its athletes and supporters and achieving the clubmark standards shows we offer that . Our best athletes are the ones who work hard in training and turn out repeatedly to compete for the club. They set high standards and deserve the best we can offer."

Pitreavie AAC work in close partnership with scottishathletics, the Fife Local Athletics Partnership and SportTayside & Fife Athletics Development Manager Alasdair Donaldson. At the presentation of the Award last Friday at their club awards night Alasdair presented the club with a cheque for £300 in recognition of their achievement of this award stating “This financial reward is recognition of the hard work the volunteers on Pitreavie’s committee have put into achieving this award for the club; ensuring that it is well positioned to develop its athletes to the best of the club’s ability. Hopefully this award can help Pitreavie AAC to achieve all the aims of their club development plan over the next four years.””
